First Blog Post

Greetings and welcome!  This is my first blog post.  (I guess quite a few bloggers do this.)

As a teacher, university student and researcher in curriculum studies at the University of Alberta,  I am hoping to use this blog as a means to explore some of the current and evolving ideas in the fields of curriculum design, learning, expertise and educational psychology.

Though my own research interests are in mathematics and numeracy, I will also explore other areas that relate to learning as well - ranging from physical education to art to literacy.

An Experiment Involving Online Gaming and Expertise Theory

Now, this particular blog has been a bit slow due to the effects and distractions of everyday life.   So, to keep my interest in blogging, I am going to use this blog as a log for tracking my progress in an online game, League of Legends.  Now, to make matters more interesting, I am going to employ some of my readings on learning theory and educational psychology, including expertise, mastery and cognitive psychology.  Why bother to do this?  Well there's a few reasons.
